Seneca Man arrested for Possession of a Stolen Vehicle

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Seneca man who had an outstanding warrant for possession of a stolen vehicle after a traffic stop on Tuesday. 33-year-old Michael Lee Trotter of Twin Springs Drive was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center after a deputy observed a vehicle sitting stationary ignoring a green light even though the vehicle had the right of way on Highway 28 near West North 1st Street in Seneca. The deputy initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle and made contact with Trotter, who was the driver. A check of Trotter’s driver’s license revealed that he had the outstanding warrant and that his license was suspended. After stepping out of the vehicle, Trotter was placed under arrest and the vehicle was towed away from the scene. Trotter was issued a citation for driving under suspension and was served the arrest warrant at the Oconee County Detention Center. Trotter is the second person arrested in an investigation that began on Sept. 25, regarding a stolen utility trailer. In a press release issued on Oct. 4, the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of 28-year-old Amanda Marie Davis of the same Twin Springs Drive address on the same charge in the same investigation. A deputy responded to an address on Farris Sandra Drive in the West Union area back on Sept. 25, in regards to reports of a stolen utility trailer. Upon arriving on the scene, the deputy was met by the victims who stated that their 16-foot Homestead Dual Axle Utility trailer had been stolen from the property. The case was turned over the Criminal Investigations Division. As the investigation continued and evidence was gathered, investigators in the case discovered the trailer on Highway 24 in the Tokeena Crossroads area on Sept. 27. Also based upon evidence gathered in the case, investigators determined that Davis and Trotter possessed and painted the trailer in order to sell it online, knowing that it was stolen. Trotter was given a $25,000 surety bond on the possession of a stolen vehicle charge and $647.50 personal recognizance bond on the driving under suspension charge. A hold has also been placed on Trotter by the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office. The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing their investigation.
