Seneca Man arrested for Trafficking in Meth

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Seneca man Wednesday, July 11, on multiple charges, including trafficking in methamphetamine. Booked into the Oconee County Detention Center was 28-year-old Alexander O’Neil Hunter after being placed under arrest by deputies’ following a traffic stop on Wells Highway in Seneca. This year, agents from the Narcotics Division supervised the controlled purchase of a quantity of methamphetamine from Hunter at an address near Seneca. An arrest warrant was obtained against Hunter on that charge. Hunter also had outstanding arrest warrants from an incident that occurred in August of 2017 in which a deputy from the Uniform Patrol Division observed a vehicle driving recklessly near Seneca. The deputy attempted to initiate a traffic stop by activating the patrol vehicles blue lights and sirens but the driver would not pull over. Hunter eventually stopped the vehicle in the middle of the roadway and ran on foot, leaving the vehicle in drive. The vehicle eventually came to a stop in a ditch on Hope Avenue. The driver was not apprehended. A search of the vehicle produced evidence that Hunter was the driver of the vehicle. A quantity of marijuana was discovered inside. The deputy obtained warrants against Hunter charging him with simple possession of marijuana, failure to stop for a blue light and driving under suspension in relation to that incident. Hunter was released from the Oconee County Detention Center on Thursday, July 12, after posting a combined $81,885 surety bond on all the charges against him.
