Seneca Man Arrested on Fugitive from Justice Warrant

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Seneca man Tuesday on a Fugitive from Justice warrant related to a charge out of the state of Kentucky.

31 year-old Christopher Ray McElreath of Ames Street was booked into the Oconee County
Detention Center at 8:05pm Tuesday. McElreath remains in custody, at this time, as a hold
has been placed on McElreath by the Muhlenberg County (KY) Sheriff’s Office pending
extradition proceedings. Muhlenberg County is located northwest of Bowling Green, KY.

A deputy from the Uniform Patrol Bureau conducted a traffic stop on a black dirt bike, which did not have a tag, late yesterday afternoon on E. Powell Street near Goddard Avenue, which is located on the Utica Mill Hill.

The deputy made contact with McElreath, who was the operator of the motorcycle. Based upon information the deputy supplied to dispatch, it was learned that McElreath had a warrant for his arrest in the state of Kentucky, with extradition back to that state.

McElreath was placed under arrest and transported to the Detention Center, where he was
booked in on a Temporary Custody Order until an arrest warrant was obtained charging
McElreath with being a Fugitive from Justice.

According to the arrest warrant, McElreath is a fugitive from justice from the state of Kentucky, having committed the offense of incest on a child.

Due to the nature of the charge in the state of Kentucky, the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office will not release any information that could, in any way, identify the victim in this case.
