Seneca Man arrested on Multiple Traffic Charges

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Seneca man Sunday evening on multiple traffic charges during routine road patrol operations.  Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Jimmy Watt gives details.  “27-year-old Marco Antonio Esparza of 241 Friendship Road in Seneca was clocked on radar doing 85 miles per hour in a 45 mile per hour zone in a Chevrolet Blazer as a deputy was on patrol on Wells Highway near Krabbe Lane.  The officer attempted a traffic stop of the vehicle.  The vehicle then proceeded through a traffic light at Wells Highway and South Oak Street near Seneca without stopping and then made a right turn without signaling on South Oak Street.  The officer was then able to get the driver to stop at Garrison Road, where the officer made contact with the driver. Esparza reportedly told the deputy that he got scared and tried to evade the officer due to the fact that he did not have a driver’s license.  He also advised the officer that he was in a hurry to get to work.  According to the incident report, the officer then placed Esparza under arrest for reckless driving.  Esparza was also charged with disregarding a traffic signal, for no turn signal, and for driving under suspension in the second offense.  The vehicle was towed and the subject was transported to the Oconee County Detention Center.” He was released from the Detention Center on a $2,195 personal recognizance bond.
