Seneca Man caught in the act of burglarizing Jewelry Store

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a Seneca man on multiple charges after a burglary at a Seneca area business, reports Public Information Officer Jimmy Watt. “38-year-old Reginald Leon Holden of South Pine Street was booked into the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office and charged with two counts of malicious injury to personal property and one count each of resisting arrest, second degree burglary, petit larceny, possession of tools or implements capable of being used in a crime and wearing a ski mask used to conceal his identity. Deputies from the Uniform Patrol Division were dispatched to Turner’s Jewelers in the Applewood Shopping Center during the night Tuesday in reference to a burglar alarm. When deputies arrived, they observed that forced entry had been made into the business and discovered Holden inside of the business. After being discovered by deputies and refusing officer commands, Holden fled the scene on foot, where he was apprehended after a deputy deployed his Taser. The suspect, Holden, started resisting even after being informed by deputies that he was under arrest but the suspect was finally taken into custody. Holden was taken to Oconee Memorial Hospital for treatment due to an injury to his hand where he was treated and released. He was then transported to the Oconee County Detention Center.” As the investigation continued, deputies discovered jewelry in a blue bag in Holden’s possession and damage inside of the business to some of the display cases and a door to the business. In addition, Holden had a hammer in his possession and wore a black ski mask in the commission of the crime. Holden remains in custody at the Oconee County Detention Center on a combined $64,250 surety bond.
