Seneca Mayor proclaims American Red Cross Month

For more than 96 years, the Oconee County Chapter of the American Red Cross has been the place where citizens join together, and the generosity and compassion of the American people finds purpose.  This week, Seneca Mayor Dan Alexander and members of the Seneca City Council signed a proclamation declaring American Red Cross Month.  “Kathy Rogers with the Red Cross came yesterday and we had a signing.  What an organization and I know Seneca could not do without them.  Any time we have a fire, disaster, or the Police Department or Fire Department either one ever need assistance they are right there.  Whether it is giving out water or making sure people have shelter, they do so much in helping us be able to do what we do, so we are really grateful to the Red Cross and to Kathy and everything they stand for and what they do for this community.” The Seneca City Council also approved a donation to the Oconee County Chapter of the American Red Cross, explains Mayor Alexander. “The Red Cross asked for a donation from Seneca Light and Water.  We are able to do that for several different organizations and we are very proud that we can.  We approved a $1,500 donation to the Red Cross.” Mayor Alexander is asking the community to give to the Red Cross and help them reach their fundraising goal this year. “She is doing her fundraiser this year and the Red Cross operates entirely through donations.  The goal this year is $40,000 and I believe they are at $35,000 right now.  I encourage everybody, whatever the donation is that you can give, help us help the Red Cross reach its goal.” If you would like to donate to the Oconee County Chapter of the American Red Cross, mail a check to 224 E.
