Seneca plans Month Long Celebration of Black History

The City of Seneca is gearing up for a month long celebration of Black History Month in February.  Seneca Events Coordinator Riley Johnson gives details.  “We’ve got so many things going on in February for Black History Month.  Advertising and marketing you will hear all about it, everyday there is a salute to Black History Month.  We are going to radio, TV and newspaper covering it.  It will be something unique and I would be willing to bet that there is nothing else like in South Carolina like what we are going to do for the whole month of February.  We are just so excited for all the things coming up and of course, Martin Luther King Way will be dedicated.  It is the first street you see when you get off the interstate at one of the exits as you come into Seneca.  There are so many things that we can do with that and that will be a big part of our celebration of Black History Month.” The City kicks off its month long celebration of Black History Month with a luncheon to spotlight the new Bertha Lee Strickland Cultural Museum on February 7.  The luncheon is free but space is limited so reserve your seat by calling Mollie Smith at (864) 247-3996.
