Seneca Police make Crack Cocaine Bust

Two Seneca residents were arrested on Tuesday after a drug bust.  Seneca Police Chief John Covington reports that over the past week, an undercover operative was utilized to purchase crack cocaine from Qawi Aziz Kabir, former known as Michael Christian, on three separate occasions. Subsequently, agents were able to obtain arrest warrants for distribution of crack cocaine and a search warrant for his residence on Hunter Street in Seneca. At approximately 6:40am Tuesday morning, the Seneca Police Department Tactical Response Team made entry into the residence to execute the search warrant.  Kabir and Gladys Elmore were detained.  While Kabir was being escorted to a patrol vehicle, he jerked away from the officer and attempted to flee on foot.  An Oconee County Sheriff’s Office K-9 was released and it apprehended Kabir a short distance from the scene. While searching the residence, agents found a large amount of crack cocaine, marijuana and US currency. Both Kabir and Elmore were charged with trafficking crack cocaine and possession with intent to distribute marijuana.  Kabir was also charged with resisting arrest.  He had just been released from prison in December after serving 12 years for many offenses including selling drugs.
