Seneca Police Officer receives State Award

A Seneca Police Officer has been honored at the state level.  Staff Sergeant Robbie Johnson is the South Carolina American Legion 2013 Officer of the Year.  Johnson was nominated for the award by his supervisor, Captain Tommy Williams.  “The American Legion does a yearly nomination for a local officer and in this case it was my pleasure to nominate Robbie because he has a very strong work ethic, he is a seasoned veteran officer and we are just very proud to have him in this department.  Fortunately, he won for Oconee County and they nominated him on to the state level.  We were all pleased when we found out he had won that as well.” Johnson was presented the South Carolina American Legion 2013 Officer of the Year award on Friday at a banquet in Greenville.  Johnson has been with the Seneca Police Department since 2004, explains Captain Williams.  “Robbie is a shift supervisor.  He holds the rank of staff sergeant and supervises a shift of four.  Robbie has always been very successful in taking young men and women under his wing and teaching them the basics in law enforcement.  He is very fair with the public but firm.  He has just done a great job and I feel we are very blessed to have him with us.” Captain Williams also credited Sergeant Johnson with helping to launch the Seneca Police Department’s Honor Guard and Mountain Bike Patrol.
