Seneca Police searching for Burglary Suspect

The investigative division of the Seneca Police Department has been actively working two separate burglary cases involving both city and county properties. A burglary was reported on May 30, at the Oconee County Rescue Squad located on Goddard Avenue. Damage was done to the building and property was stolen. A second burglary occurred in the early morning hours of June 4, at the former Propex Building located on Shiloh Road. This property is owned by the City of Seneca with several businesses leasing out spaces. A city office was entered, and several thousand dollars’ worth of electronic equipment was stolen. Seneca Police Chief John Covington reports that security camera video was obtained in the city burglary that assisted in identifying the suspect to be Joshua Douglas Burns of Owens Road in Seneca. Pursuant to the investigative results, a search warrant was obtained for Burn’s residence and executed on June 7, with the assistance of investigators from the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office. During the execution of the search warrant, investigators located property belonging to the City of Seneca as well as the Oconee County Rescue Squad. Arrest warrants were then obtained for Joshua Burns, who is being actively sought for his arrest on six outstanding arrest warrants. Anyone with any information as to his whereabouts is asked to call the Seneca Police Department at 864-885-2718 or Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIMESC.
