Seneca presents check for Vet Appreciation Night

Thanks to the thousands of people who attend the recent Charlie Daniels concert, the Seneca City Council was able to present a $7,568 check to support Veterans Appreciation Night.  At their monthly meeting Tuesday night, members of the Seneca City Council awarded the check and heard plans for event, explains Seneca Events Coordinator Riley Johnson.  “Back when we were planning the Seneca Fest show, one of the things that Charlie Daniels put in his contract was he wanted to tie it in with a salute to veterans.  We originally presented that to him, so that was great.  We do the Veterans Appreciation Family Night every year for the last three years, so for every ticket sale to the concert we took $1 and we gave that to the Veterans Appreciation Night to offset some of the funds to help put that show on each year.” This year’s Veterans Appreciation Night hosted by The Journal, Borg Warner, Oconee County and the City of Seneca is Tuesday, June 18 at 7pm.  Tickets for the event featuring; BBQ, music, inflatables, games and fireworks are $5.  Tickets to the event at Seneca’s Gignilliat Field may be purchased at Seneca City Hall or the Shaver Recreation Complex.
