Seneca Rec Staff applauded for Hard Work

The extremely wet summer has kept maintenance staff at the Seneca Recreation Department busy.  After 20 inches of rain fell on the fields of the Shaver Complex the last two weeks of July, the city hosted the 2013 Dixie Boys World Series the first week in August.  That combination of rain and tournament play has people applauding the work done by the recreation staff.  Seneca Recreation Director Rick Lacey is very proud of his staff’s hard work this summer, especially after Tuesday night’s heavy rains interrupted play.  “We were supposed to play on field one and we had everything set up but at 11:30am on Tuesday we decided to switch fields because field one was not going to be playable.  We switched everything over to field two, bringing everything, cables, speakers, concessions, etc. to the other field.  The guys had things perfect until the rain came.  I cannot say enough about the staff here.  They are probably working on around 100 hours this week.  I’m very grateful and thank them for all their hard work.” Special thanks to the entire staff of the Seneca Recreation Department for all their hard work preparing for and then hosting the 2013 Dixie Boys World Series this week.  Twelve teams representing southeastern states from Texas to North Carolina participated in the five-day tournament at the Shaver Recreation Complex.
