Seneca still planning to provide Services despite Annexation

This month, the City of Clemson will consider the annexation of Lot 8 on the Hartwell Village property in Oconee County. The property currently under construction is to house a large condominium project. Either way the annexation goes, Seneca Utilities Director Bob Faires says the city will be ready to provide water and sewer services. “The property is right next to the lake and straight across is the City of Clemson and so it certainly makes sense from the city’s aspect and there may be some benefits to the land owner and I think the city maybe providing some incentives for their annexation. I don’t know the details of that but as far as Seneca and the utilities are concerned we’re serving the area. We’ve got water and sewer there that we will be providing whether the annexation works out for them or whether it doesn’t, either way we’re still here to provide those services for them.” The City of Clemson holds a public hearing on the proposed annexation of Lot 8 of the Hartwell Village commercial development in the Council Chambers of Clemson City Hall at 6pm on Monday, Feb. 19.
