Seneca Woman arrested for Attempted Murder

A Seneca woman sits behind bars charged with attempted murder, possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, discharging a firearm into a vehicle, and malicious injury to personal property. On Saturday, Jan. 3, officers with the Seneca Police Department were dispatched to the Marathon Gas Station on Bypass 123 to reports of shots fired in the area. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the victims who stated that an altercation occurred earlier in the evening at Mullen’s Bar with 32-year-old Latoya Denise Emry of Seneca. Then, the two victims went next door to the gas station when Emry returned and shot multiple rounds from a semiautomatic handgun at the vehicle as they were attempting to flee. Multiple witnesses identified the suspect by name and identified her car. In addition, video surveillance corroborated the witnesses’ description of events. Emry was arrested without incident at her home on Lindsay Road in Seneca and booked into the Oconee County Detention Center on the four charges.
