Seneca Woman Found Dead in Toccoa

The GBI is investigating the death of a Seneca woman, whose body was found near the railroad tracks on Currahee Street at Highland Avenue in Toccoa.

Investigators have not said how she died, but the Stephens County Coroner’s Office has identified her as 58 year-old Deborah H. Elmore of Seneca.

Toccoa Police Chief Jimmy Mize said his officers responded around to the scene around 3:30 p.m. this past Thursday afternoon when a caller to 911 reported seeing the body lying near the tracks.

An autopsy will be conducted at the GBI Crime Lab in Decatur, Georgia. Police said more details would be released as the investigation allows.
