Services Back To Normal For Oconee County Government After Last Week’s Malware Attack

(Seneca, SC)——-In the wake of the Malware attack last week that affected some of the computer systems and servers for Oconee County Government, Oconee County Administrator Amanda Brock said yesterday afternoon that all electronic services for the citizens of Oconee County and those at Pine Street have been restored. The only exception at that time was the virtual machines at the libraries.

Brock said that the IT Department was going from outlying office to outlying office to continue their work but there should not be any further disruption to citizens.

Brock says that the incident was not a data breach nor has a data breach occurred and there has not been any identity issues known from the very beginning.  Also, there was not any ransom demands made as part of the attack.

Oconee County Council Chairman Julian Davis was a guest on the Coffee Time program on Tuesday commented on the Malware attack.  Davis says that he believes that County Council will put forth more funding towards the IT Department.
