Seven killed on SC Roadways over Weekend

The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of seven persons killed on state roadways over the weekend. As of Oct. 21, 2018, 811 people have died on South Carolina highways, compared to 801 highway deaths during the same time period in 2017. Of the 562 motor vehicle occupants who have died in 2018, 289 were not wearing seat belts. Through Oct. 21, 122 pedestrians have died compared to 125 in 2017; 84 motorcyclists have died compared to 102 in 2017; and 16 bicyclists have died compared to 15 in 2017 on state roadways. These numbers are preliminary and are based on fatal collisions compiled by the South Carolina Department of Public Safety as of 11:59pm on Oct. 21, 2018.
