Shaver Complex receives $100,000 for Improvements

The City of Seneca is investing $100,000 to improve the Shaver Recreation Complex at 698 West South 4th Street. These improvements involve Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant bathrooms and security cameras, explains Seneca Recreation Director Rick Lacey. “We are just updating our cameras to digital and a new monitor at both Gignilliat and Shaver. Our cameras are 16-years-old so they’re kind of out of date, so we are going to update that. Then we are putting in sidewalks down between Fields 7 and 6 and it will go all the way out to the playground. It has to go to our handicap parking. To be ADA compliant, you have to get them from parking lot to the building, so it was well needed, it is well past due and I really appreciate them giving us the money to do this.” The funds were approved by the Seneca City Council in a Special Called Meeting Tuesday night.
