Sheriff presents Criminal Justice Session to Students

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office welcomed some of the best high school students from Oconee County to the Law Enforcement Center for a Criminal Justice Session on Friday. The students visited many of the offices and facilities at the Sheriff’s Office, including the Emergency Operations Center, the 911 Center and the Oconee County Detention Center.  The students also heard from some of the deputies of the various divisions at the Sheriff’s Office.  In addition, Oconee County Sheriff Mike Crenshaw had a chance to address the student’s as well.  “Going forward, every one of you is going to be some type of future leader,” says Sheriff Crenshaw.  “Hopefully in our county, if not, somewhere else. We live in a world of technology, we text, we use social media, we do a lot on the media end of it but when you talk about government, eye to eye communication is most important. In government, in law enforcement especially, communication, eye-to-eye contract with people, that is how we solve problems. When you think of public service, you think of law enforcement. People do the work in public service.  You will never be able to replace that.  That is the most important asset that you have is the people.” Junior Leadership Oconee is made up of 16 juniors from the high schools of Oconee County.  Fourteen of the 16 attended the Criminal Justice Session.  Two others attended Special Olympics in Clemson.  The Criminal Leadership Session lasted at the Sheriff’s Office from 7:45am until 3pm.
