SHS FFA Members finalists in National FFA Agriscience Fair

Seneca High School FFA members, Alexus Moore, Brittany Shook, K’Yundra Martin, Emmalee Rawlings, and Christa Addis, will be traveling to the National FFA Convention in Louisville, Kentucky this October to compete in the National FFA Agriscience Fair. The National FFA Agriscience Fair is a competition for FFA members who are interested in the science and technology of agriculture. It is sponsored by Syngenta and Cargill. During the 2012-2013 school year, these students, while in their Agricultural Science and Technology class, conducted an agricultural related research project as a requirement for the Supervised Agricultural Experience component of the curriculum.  At the SC State Agriscience Fair in June, these students competed against other FFA members and placed top in the state.  Projects were then sent to be judged for the National FFA Agriscience Fair in July, where they were selected as one of the top 15 in their corresponding category and division out of the entire United States.  At the National FFA Agriscience Fair in October, these students will present the findings of their agricultural related scientific research project to a panel of judges for a chance to win cash prizes. Seneca FFA Agricultural Educator and FFA Advisor Christina Alexander said, “This is a tremendous accomplishment for these young ladies.  I hope that this experience will continue to deepen their passion for agriculture and the FFA as well as strengthen their knowledge and skills in science and technology.  I could not be more proud.” The National FFA Organization, formerly known as the Future Farmers of America, is dedicated to making a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
