Seneca High School science teacher John Michael Hammond and senior James Eister attended the South Carolina Junior Academy of Science annual conference this past weekend. James presented research that he had done using a pneumatic projectile launcher to an audience of judges, college professors from South Carolina universities, as well as peers. Competing against hundreds of the best students from around the state, James won first place in the physics category as well as first place overall. He has now been invited to the national meeting of American Association for the Advancement of Science in Chicago, where he will be able to see presentations from and network with world-renowned scientists, engineers, educators, and more.
