SHS Students participate in National School Walkout Day

On the anniversary of the Columbine High School massacre in 1999, students across the country are taking part in National School Walkout Day. Some students at Seneca High School participated in the event, says Oconee County Schools Assistant Superintendent of Operations Steve Hanvey. “I talked to Principal Roberts this morning and he said they did have some students who participated and they were allowed to participate. So, everything went smoothly. I have not heard from the other high schools if they did have any participation or not. So, we are happy that students were able to do what they needed to do and they are back in class now. So, we are continuing on with a normal school day.” The School District of Oconee County was prepared to give students an area in the school, such as the gym, if they chose to participate in National School Walkout Day.
