SHS Teachers helping Students by wearing Jeans for Christmas

Every Friday that an employee at Seneca High School (SHS) gets to wear jeans, a donation is given to a needy student during Christmas. SHS Guidance Counselor Cari Carter tells more about the school’s Jeans for Christmas Fund. “This is for our students at the high school and basically what we do is the teachers, to wear jeans on Friday, they pay $50 per semester or $100 a year and all of that money goes directly to our SHS students. At Christmas time, we give out gift cards to students who are in need or who may not have Christmas, so they are able to take those gift cards and shop for themselves over the Christmas holiday.” The community can donate to this fundraiser too, tells Carter. “If anybody in the community would like to make a donation, they can simply call the high school at 886-4461 and just let us know that they would like to make a donation to the Jeans for Christmas Fund. As I said all of that money goes directly to our SHS students.” Through the Jeans for Christmas Fund, SHS has been able to serve over 1,100 students and has raised in excess of $85,000.
