Singleton Announces Run for Oconee Probate Judge

Seneca Municipal Court Judge Danny Singleton has announced his candidacy for the Republican nomination to become Oconee County’s next probate judge.

That office is currently held by Judge Ashley Rice, who was appointed by Chief Justice Donald Beatty in December. Her appointment followed last October’s suspension of Kenny Johns from the office. Rice’s term will end in January of 2023.

Singleton has more than thirty years in local law enforcement. He joined the police department in Westminster in 1990, and also worked for Seneca Police. He was appointed Municipal Court Judge for the City of Seneca in November of 1998. He has also served on the bench in the cities of Westminster and Walhalla, and is a back-up judge for the Town of Salem.

Most recently, Danny Singleton was appointed to serve on the Summary Court Judges Advisory Committee – a nine member board of judges throughout the state that provides recommendations regarding the improvement of the administration of the summary courts in South Carolina.
