Singleton presented Order of the Palmetto

After four decades of service to the people of Oconee County, former Sheriff James Singleton enters retirement with the state’s highest honor.  On Saturday, Singleton received the Order of the Palmetto at an appreciation dinner held at the Gignilliat Community Center in Seneca. State Senator Thomas Alexander made the presentation, reading the enclosed letter from Governor Nikki Haley.  Having served 20 years as sheriff, Singleton is the longest serving sheriff in Oconee County history.  His total law enforcement career span 38 and half years.
