Six arrested for Unemployment Fraud

A Pickens County resident is one of six individuals to be arrested on charges of fraudulently receiving unemployment benefits.  The South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce’s Office of General Counsel announces that individuals from Greenville, Pickens, Sumter and York counties have been arrested and charged in the case. As a result of the agency’s ongoing effort to identify and prosecute cases of unemployment fraud throughout the state, these six suspects are the latest to be arrested for receiving fraudulent unemployment benefits in amounts over $10,000, to which they were not entitled.  Those arrested were 28-year-old Thomasina Hicks of Pickens County, 55-year-old Janie Gilstrap of Greenville County, 53-year-old Mario Gonzalez of Greenville County, 36-year-old Daryl Jefferson of Sumter County, 41-year-old Sharon Gilmore of York County and 56-year-old Thomasenia Shivers of York County.
