SLED Investigating Officer Involved Shooting Involving Anderson County Sheriff’s Office Deputy

(Seneca, SC)————————-The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division in investigating an officer involved shooting involving deputies from the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office that occurred Wednesday evening in Anderson County in Liberty.

According to a press release from the Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to an address on Shadow Hill Lane to serve a domestic violence arrest warrant on 72 year old Michael Wayne Sloan.

Upon arriving on scene, deputies encountered Sloan at the door of the residence. According to the release, Sloan presented a firearm to deputies, upon which Sloan was struck by a least one round fired by a deputy.

Sloan was taken into custody without further incident by the SWAT team and was transported to the hospital by paramedics for treatment. There were no other injuries reported.

Sheriff Chad McBride requested SLED agents to respond to investigate the incident. According to the spokesperson for the Sheriff’s Office, Sloan has not been served his arrest warrants as of yesterday afternoon as he has not be released by medical personnel.
