South Carolina Attorney General Announces Phone Companies Agree To Principles To Fight Robocalls

(Seneca, SC)—-South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson announced yesterday that phone companies have agreed to adopt eight principals to fight illegal robocalls. 

Recently Wilson joined a public/private bipartisan coalition of 51 attorneys general and 12 phone companies to combat the problem. 

The release says that the agreement will help protect phone users from the robocalls and make it easier for attorneys general to investigate and prosecute. 

Among the principles will include implementing call-blocking technology at the network level at no cost to customers and making available to customers additional, free, easy-to-use call blocking and labeling tools as well as phone companies working with law enforcement, including state attorneys general, to trace the origin of illegal robocalls.
