South Carolina Department Of Employment And Workforce Reports Record Numbers Working

(Seneca, SC)————————The South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce issued their February 2019 State Employment release and once again, the number of South Carolinians working set another record as the unemployment rate remained steady. 

According to the release, the number of individuals working increased by an estimated 6,951 people, marking a new record of 2,267,211. 

The state’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate remained unchanged for the eighth consecutive month at 3.2%. Nationwide, the unemployment rate is at 3.8%. 

In Oconee County, the unemployment rate dropped from 3.3% to 3.1% last month. In Pickens County, the unemployment rate also dropped last month from 3.5% to 3.0%. Anderson County also showed a drop in the unemployment last month from 3.4% to 3.0%. 

In Oconee County specifically, the number of individuals employed is 34,679 compared to an overall labor force of 35,770.
