South Carolina Department Of Public Safety Conducting Lane Reversal Exercise Today

(Seneca, SC)——————-If your travel plans take you towards the coast today, you may see some increased law enforcement presence along some of the roads, highways and interstates today in the southern part of the state. This increased presence is due to the South Carolina Department of Public Safety conducting a lane reversal exercise.

The purpose of the exercise is to test lane reversal plans for all three major coastal areas of South Carolina. Lanes would be reversed on I-26 and along some of the major roads leading from the coast if those areas were evacuated due to the threat of a hurricane.

The exercise will take place from 8am until 3pm today but there will not be any lane closures or intersections blocked during the exercise.

The South Carolina Department of Public Safety advises motorists to look out for law enforcement personnel or state workers along the shoulders of the road along portions of I-26, along U.S. Highways 501, 278 and 21 as well as S.C. Highway 544 from the Columbia area south and westward.
