South Carolina Forestry Commission Implements New Prescribed Burn Notification System
Following the implementation of a new computer system yesterday, October 1, the South Carolina Forestry Commission has introduced minor procedural changes for citizens notifying the agency of planned prescribed burns, featuring a slightly different order for burn plan requests and a new formatting style for assigned notification numbers. While state law still requires individuals conducting wildlife, forestry, and agricultural burns to notify the dispatch center beforehand at (800) 777-3473, callers will now receive a unique identification number starting with the current calendar year followed by “BN” and a five-digit chronological sequence.
