South Carolina Highway Patrol And Anderson County Coroner’s Office Investigating Fatal Wednesday Morning Motorcycle Accident

(Seneca, SC)——-The South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Anderson County Coroner’s Office are investigating a fatal accident that occurred yesterday morning about 3 and one-half miles south of the town of Pendleton involving a motorcycle. 

According to Deputy Coroner Don McCown of the the Anderson County Coroner’s Office, the victim has been identified as 39 year old Brian Christopher Watson of Pendleton. 

The accident occurred around 2:15am at the intersection of Centerville Road and Sandy Springs Road and the motorcycle was the only vehicle involved in the crash. According to the Coroner’s Office release, Pendleton EMS and the Anderson County Fire Department discovered the motorcycle and the victim lying in the roadway. 

The Coroner’s Office said the victim was the operator of the motorcycle and was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. The victim sustained severe head injuries as a result of the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene, according to the Coroner’s Office. 

Trooper Joe Hovis of the Highway Patrol says the victim was operating a 2005 Honda motorcycle and was traveling south on Centerville Road, crossed the center line and drove around a road closure barricade. 

The Coroner’s Office states the victim was attempting to turn onto Sandy Springs Road which resulted in the rider being thrown from the motorcycle, sustaining severe injuries.
