South Carolina Secures FEMA Assistance

South Carolina has secured federal funding to support Hurricane Helene recovery efforts. Governor Henry McMaster announced that the state’s request for a Major Disaster Declaration has been approved, providing critical resources to supplement local and state recovery initiatives. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has authorized Individual Assistance for residents in 13 counties, offering financial aid for uninsured damages. Additionally, Public Assistance has been approved for these counties to cover debris removal and emergency protective measures. The Hazard Mitigation Grant program also provides funding for projects aimed at reducing future disaster risks. The expedited declaration was based on immediate needs identified by emergency management officials. As damage assessments continue, additional counties may be added to the list of recipients.
