Special Weather Statement: Strong Thunderstorms Moving Through the Region

The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has issued a Special Weather Statement for a line of strong thunderstorms moving northeast at 30 mph. Doppler radar detected the storm line extending from 15 miles southeast of Franklin to 8 miles northeast of Carnesville. The primary hazards include wind gusts up to 50 mph and half-inch hail, which could knock down tree limbs, blow around unsecured items, and cause minor damage to outdoor objects. Impacted locations include Clemson, Seneca, Walhalla, Central, Pendleton, Westminster, Reed Creek, Lavonia, Gumlog, and Highlands. Anyone outdoors in these areas is advised to seek shelter inside a building.
