Sports Update For Friday, February 22nd; Pickens Pre-Season Baseball Tournament Postponed Until Next Monday

(Seneca, SC)—————–According to Walhalla Head Baseball Coach Jerry Lee, all Games tomorrow at the Pickens Pre-Season Baseball Tournament have been postponed this weekend.  The Tournament schedule is as follows for next week:

Monday:
Pendleton vs Pickens – 5:00
Seneca vs. Walhalla – 7:30
Tuesday:
Pickens vs. Seneca – 5:00
Walhalla vs. Daniel – 7:30
Wednesday
Seneca vs. Daniel – 5:00
Walhalla vs Pendleton – 7:30
Thursday
Pickens vs. Walhalla – 5:00
Daniel vs. Pendleton – 7:30
The JV teams will have a round robin tournament next Saturday with the schedule to be announced.  According to Seneca Head Baseball Coach Andy Bay, a proposed scenario for the JV teams play a 4 inning or a hour and one half game with everyone playing two to three games.  The games would start at 11 am and finish around 7 pm.

In other high school sports news, the Southeast Regional Rotary Small School Track and Field Invitational is scheduled for Satruday, March 30th at the Seneca High School Track. Besides the Seneca Track and Field teams, seven other high schools from South Carolina, two from Alabama and one from Georgia are scheduled to participate.

 

Today is the last day for registration for Spring Sports for the Seneca Recreation Department. Registration is open through the end of the day for T-Ball (ages 4-6), softball (ages 7-15), baseball (ages 7-15) and flag football (7-12). Georgia Tech defeated Clemson in women’s basketball action in the ACC last night 75-53. The Clemson baseball team is scheduled to begin a weekend series at Doug Kingsmore Stadium today against VMI with a 4 pm first pitch.

 

The 13th ranked South Carolina women’s basketball team lost at home last night to 16th ranked Kentucky 65-57 in the SEC. The South Carolina baseball team is scheduled to begin a weekend series against Utah Valley today at 4 pm at Founders Park.

 

The Clemson basketball team will be action tomorrow at Noon for a game against Boston College in the ACC at Littlejohn Coliseum. The South Carolina basketball team will play Mississippi State tomorrow night in the SEC with a 6 pm tip-off.
