Sports Update For Friday, July 19th, 2019; Three Former Clemson Golfers Compete At Open Championship

(Seneca, SC)——–Former Clemson All-American golfer Doc Redman shot an even par 71 yesterday in the first round of the 148th Open Championship at Royal Portrush in Northern Ireland. 

Redman, the former U.S. Amateur Champion, is playing in his first major as a professional.

Two other former Clemson golfers, 2009 U.S. Open Champion Lucas Glover shot an one-over par 73 in his first round while former All-American Kyle Stanley had a four-over par score of 75 yesterday. 

As of 8am eastern time this morning, Glover has made a move up the leaderboard in the second round as he stands at -3 under par for the tournament and -4 under par so far on his round today thru 13. Redman stands at even par so far in his round today thru 8 and even par for the tournament. Stanley is set to tee off at 8:37am eastern time this morning. 

South Carolina wide receiver Bryan Edwards and Clemson wide receiver’s Tee Higgins and Justyn Ross have been named to the watch list for the 2019 Biletnikoff Award, which is awarded to the top wide receiver in college football.
