Sports Update For Friday, May 10th, 2019; Walhalla Baseball Player Named Region 1-AAAA Player Of The Year

(Seneca, SC)——————Walhalla baseball coach Jerry Lee has announced that Junior James Hanvey was the region 1-AAAA player of year as well as being named to the South Carolina baseball coaches association 4-A All-State team. 

Senior pitcher Alec Woodard was also named to the Region 1-AAAA All-Region team as a pitcher while Senior Jonathan Bonadies was named to the Region 1-AAAA all-Region team as a catcher. 

Woodard was named a honorable mention for all-State and has been selected to the South Carolina Baseball Coaches Association North/South Games on May 21st and May 22nd. 

Both Woodard and Bonadies have also been selected to play in the SC/GA Baseball Classic All-Star Game on June 6th. 

The Clemson baseball team will open up a three game weekend series in the ACC tonight against 16th ranked North Carolina State. First pitch scheduled for tonight in Raleigh at 6:30pm. Clemson is 29-20 overall and 12-12 in the ACC. 

The South Carolina baseball team will be at home at Founder Park this weekend for a three game series against Kentucky in the SEC. First pitch is scheduled for tonight at 7pm. 

The Clemson men’s golf team will be the 4th seed in the upcoming Austin, TX regional in the NCAA men’s golf tournament, which begins next Monday. The South Carolina men’s golf team will be headed to west to Pulman, WA as the #3 seed there next week in the NCAA men’s golf tournament. 

South Carolina women’s basketball player Tyasha Harris and Clemson women’s basketball player Kobi Thornton are among 36 players selected to take part in the trials for the 2019 U.S. Pan American Women’s Basketball Team
