Sports Update for Friday, November 8th, 2019; seneca hosts chesnee tonight in the first round of the aaa upper state playoffs

(Seneca, SC)–The Seneca Bobcats will begin play in the AAA Upper State playoffs tonight as they will host Chesnee.

As the Bobcats continue preparations for the game, Seneca Football Coach David Crane says that in his experience, there are two themes for teams that make runs deep in the playoffs.

“To me, there’s two common threads there and that’s the ability and desire to want to continue to get better,” according to Coach Crane.

The second thread, according to Coach Crane, is handling adversity, whether it is calls that go against your team or injuries that may happen and teams must have the mental toughness to overcome those things.

Tickets are $8 dollars for tonight’s game and you can listen to tonight’s game on 94.1 The Lake. Kickoff time is set for 7:30pm.

The South Carolina Gamecocks will be back at home tomorrow night at Williams-Brice Stadium as they host out of conference foe Appalachian State.

South Carolina Coach Will Muschamp says that 19 of the 22 starters for App State are juniors or seniors that have red-shirted so they have an older and more experienced team that has won a lot of games.

Coach Muschamp also had great praise for the current coaching staff at App State for the job they are doing as well as praise for former App State coach and current Louisville coach Scott Satterfield.

You can hear tomorrow night’s South Carolina game on 94.1 The Lake with a 6pm airtime for the pregame show. Kickoff is set for 7pm along the network lines of the Gamecock Radio Network.

Other games in the SEC this weekend will include Vanderbilt at #10 Florida, Western Kentucky at Arkansas, #2 LSU at #3 Alabama, New Mexico State at Ole Miss, Missouri at #6 Georgia and Tennessee at Kentucky.

The Clemson Tigers picked up their first win of the season last night in men’s basketball with a 79-45 win over Presbyterian.

The Tigers hit 14 three-pointers in last night’s game and were led in scoring by John Newman III with 16 points.
