Sports Update For Monday, December 9th, 2019; Clemson To Face Ohio State In Fiesta Bowl In College Football Playoffs

(Seneca, SC)——–For the fifth consecutive year, the Clemson Tigers will be in the College Football Playoffs. 

The third ranked Tigers will take on #2 Ohio State in the Fiesta Bowl on Saturday, December 28th with an 8pm eastern kickoff time. The other playoff game will be in Atlanta in the Peach Bowl as #1 LSU takes on #4 Oklahoma at 4pm on December 28th. 

The winners will face off for the National Championship on Monday, January 13th in New Orleans. 

Clemson did wrap up their fifth consecutive ACC Championship Saturday night with a 62-17 win over #24 Virginia. 

Isaiah Simmons has been announced as the winner of the 2019 Butkus Award, which is given annually to the best linebacker in college football. Simmons becomes the first Clemson player to win the award. 

The Clemson Tigers lost on the road to 17th ranked Florida State yesterday by a score of 72-53 as the Seminoles sank 15 3-pointers in the game. 

Clemson falls to 5-4 overall and 0-2 in the ACC. 

The Clemson women’s basketball team lost at home yesterday afternoon to #8 Florida State 81-64 in their first conference game of the season. Kendall Spray lead the Lady Tigers in scoring with 19 points. 

Furman picked up a win at home yesterday afternoon with a 84-72 win over USC-Upstate behind 29 points from Noah Gurley. 

South Carolina lost in a non-conference game yesterday at home to Houston by a score of 76-56 to drop to 6-4 on the season.
