Sports Update For Monday, May 20th, 2019; Clemson And South Carolina Begin Conference Baseball Tournament Play This Week

(Seneca, SC)———-Both the Clemson Tigers and the South Carolina Gamecocks made their respective conference postseason baseball tournaments that begin play this week. 

Clemson won two out of three games against Wake Forest this past weekend. The Tigers are the 8th seed overall in the ACC Baseball Tournament and were placed in Pool A, along with Atlantic Division Champion and overall #1 seed Louisville as well as 11th seeded Boston College. The Tigers will face BC in the opening game of the tournament tomorrow at 11am at Durham Bulls Athletic Park in Durham, NC. 

Meanwhile, South Carolina lost two of out of three games this past weekend to Mississippi State. The Gamecocks will face LSU tomorrow night in the SEC Baseball Tournament in Hoover, AL after the conclusion of the Auburn – Tennessee game. 

The season for the South Carolina softball team came to an end yesterday in the Tallahassee Regional of the NCAA softball tournament after a 7-6 loss to Florida State. The Gamecocks finish with a 38-19 record. 

Clemson University recently announced that the contract for men’s tennis coach John Boetsch will not be renewed. Boetsch served three years as head men’s tennis coach and first became an assistant coach with the program in 2008.
