Sports Update For Thursday, July 18th, 2019; Clemson Running Back Named Preseason Candidate For 2019 Doak Walker Award

(Seneca, SC)——————-Clemson running back Travis Etienne has been named to the preseason candidate list for the 2019 Doak Walker Award, which is awarded to the nation’s top running back.

Etienne was a finalist for last year’s award, which was awarded to Jonathan Taylor of Wisconsin.

Clemson University softball coach John Rittman has announced the addition of five transfers into the Tiger softball program.

The transfers include two players from Furman, including Marissa Guimbarda, the 2019 Southern Conference Player of the Year and Ansley Gilstrap, who was a 2017-18 Atlantic Sun First Team All-Conference Preseason All-Conference player at USC Upstate.

The University of South Carolina has announced that Kevin Swander has been promoted to associate head coach of the Gamecock Swimming and Diving team.  Swander has previously been an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator with the program.
