Sports Update For Thursday, July 25th, 2019; South Carolina Punter Named To 2019 Ray Guy Watch List
(Seneca, SC)——South Carolina punter Joseph Charlton has been named to the 2019 preseason Ray Guy Watch List.
The Ray Guy Award is given to the nation’s top collegiate punter. Charlton was named second team All-SEC last year after averaging a school record 44.8 yards per punt.
Former South Carolina All-American golfer Scott Steven has qualified for the 119th U.S. Amateur after finishing as the runner-up in his sectional qualifier on Monday after winning a three man playoff.
Stevens last played in the U.S. Amateur in 2017 at Rivera Country Club, a tournament that was won by former Clemson golfer Doc Redman.
Stevens will join his former teammate and rising sophomore Ryan Hall in the field this year at Pinehurst, NC from August 12th thru August 18th.
