Sports Update For Thursday, June 6th, 2019; Clemson And South Carolina Baseball Players Selected On Final Day Of MLB Draft

(Seneca, SC)—————Four Clemson baseball players were selected on the final day of the Major League Baseball Draft yesterday. 

Junior catcher Kyle Wilkie was selected in the 12th round by the Pittsburgh Pirates, junior righthander Owen Griffith was picked in the 20th round by the Minnesota Twins, senior infielder/outfielder Grayson Byrd was chosen in the 24th round by the Chicago Cubs and senior righthander Brooks Crawford was selected in the 29th round by the San Francisco Giants. 

Also, four South Carolina baseball players were selected on the final day of the MLB Draft. Redshirt sophomore Luke Berryhill was selected in the 13th round by the Cincinnati Reds, junior Reid Morgan was also selected in the 13th round by the Seattle Mariners, senior Jacob Olson was selected in the 26th round by the Chicago Cubs and Ridge Chapman was selected in the 34th round by the Los Angeles Angels.

Three former Clemson golfers, Lucan Glover, Kyle Stanley and Sam Saunders, will be competing in next week’s US Open Golf Tournament at Pebble Beach, CA. 

Glover is a former US Open Champion having won the championship at Bethpage Black in 2009. 

The Atlantic Coast Conference recently announced that the 2020 ACC Baseball Tournament will be played in Charlotte for the first time. The tournament will take played in uptown Charlotte at BB&T ballpark from May 19th thru May 24th.
