Sports update For Thursday, October 17th, 2019; Daniel prepares for Conference match-up against Walhalla Friday night

(Seneca, SC)——–The West-Oak Warriors will look to rebound from their loss to Seneca last week as they travel to Liberty tomorrow night to take on the Red Devils in a Region 1-AAA Conference game.

Liberty is a game ahead of West-Oak in the conference standings right now.

“I think these three games that our team has a very good chance to compete in,” says West-Oak Football Coach Tim Carson.

Meanwhile, #2 Daniel will look at remain perfect on the season as they travel to Picket Post tomorrow night to take on Walhalla in a Region 1-AAAA matchup.

Last week, Daniel back-up quarterback Jackson Crosby led the Lions on the game winning drive late in the 4th quarter in their win over Wren. Crosby was subbing for starting quarterback Tyler Venables, who was injured in the game.

“I think, for the most part, it was an incredible effort on his (Crosby’s) behalf,” said Daniel Head Coach Jeff Fruster. “ Jackson didn’t come in and do anything that we didn’t expect of him nor that he hasn’t practiced all week.”

Coach Fruster said that Crosby gets snaps in practice not only at wide receiver but also at quarterback as well throughout the week.

Coach Fruster said yesterday in an interview with 94.1 The Lake that Venables has been progressing well this week from what Coach Fruster described as “a minor lower body injury.” Fruster went on to say that as of yesterday’s interview that it is “favorable” that Venables will see some time in tomorrow’s night game against the Razorbacks.
