Sports Update For Tuesday, April 1st, 2019; Seneca Track and Field Wins 1st Southeast Regional Rotary Small School Invitational

(Seneca, SC)—————————Seneca High School won the 1st Southeast Regional Rotary Small School Invitational Track and Field meet over the weekend. Seneca won on the men’s side as well as the women’s side in the team rankings as well as winning the overall competition with a combined team score of over 297 points. West-Oak finished 6th overall on the women’s side and 10th overall on the men’s side while finishing 9th overall with a combined team score of 75 points. 

Among the individual winners were Addison Berry from West-Oak in the women’s 400 meter hurdles and the girls high jump. The Seneca women won the girls 4×400 and 4x 800 meter relays. On the men’s side, Seneca’s Kyle Harrison won the men’s 400 meter hurdles. Bryce Hamby from Seneca won the boys pole vault with Bobcat Luke Lynn winning the boys shot put individual competition. The Seneca men also took home the title in the boys 4×800 meter relay. 

The Walhalla golf team won the County Golf Championship last Friday at Falcon’s Lair with a team score of 331. Oconee Christian Academy finished second with a team score of 362, Seneca came in third with a team score of 373 and West-Oak finished fourth with a team score of 383. The All-County Golf Team based on results of the tournament are A.J. McQuaid of Walhalla, who was the medalist for the event with an individual score of 81. Also on the All-County Golf Team is Zeke Moore, Davis Crowe and Grayson Edmonds. all from Walhalla as well as Will Hannah from Oconee Christian Academy and Trey Miller from West-Oak. 

The Walhalla baseball team picked up a conference win last Friday night with a 6-3 victory over Daniel. Hunter Nichols pitched 6 innings with four strikeouts to pick up the win. 

Seneca also picked up a win in baseball last Friday in conference play with a 12-1 victory over Powdersville. Trent Land had two hits and three RBI’s for Seneca. Dakota Peters had two hits and two RBI’s for the Bobcats. Matt Fassino pitched a complete game to pick up the win for Seneca. 

The Seneca softball team also won late last week with a 7-5 win over Liberty while the Walhalla softball team lost to B-HP by a score of 11-1.
