Sports Update For Tuesday, April 30th, 2019; Seneca Women’s Soccer Loses To Camden In Playoffs

(Seneca, SC)———————–The Seneca women’s soccer team lost in the first round of the Upper State AAA playoffs last night to Camden by a score of 2-0. 

Due to damage at Cross Creek Plantation, the Seneca High School Booster Club Golf Tournament that was originally scheduled for this Friday has been moved to Friday, May 24th. The shotgun start time of the tournament is still set for 1pm. With the moving of the golf tournament to May 24th, the Seneca Spring Football game will now kick off at 7pm on May 24th. 

The Board of Trustees from the University of South Carolina issued Phase II approval for a renovation to Williams Brice Stadium with a target completion before the 2020 football season. South Carolina will continue with the state approval process. Phase I was given approval in September of last year. 

The $22.5 million dollar project would provide access to climate controlled areas for over 8,000 patrons and greatly enhance the gameday recruiting experience for prospective Gamecock student-athletes, according to a release from the school. 

The South Carolina women’s tennis team will host the first and second rounds of the upcoming NCAA Women’s Tennis Tournament at the Carolina Tennis Center on Columbia. 

The South Carolina women’s team is currently ranked third in the country and will be the fourth seed in the upcoming tournament. 

The South Carolina men’s tennis teams is ranked 17th in the country and they will be heading to Charlottesville, Virginia this Saturday to face East Tennessee State in the first round of the NCAA men’s tennis tournament. 

Clemson women’s tennis player Marie-Alexandre Leduc was recently named second team All-ACC while Clemson men’s tennis player Simon Baudry has been named third team All-ACC. 

Clemson also released their upcoming schedule for men’s soccer in 2019. The Tigers will face South Carolina at home to kick off the season at Historic Riggs Field on Friday, August 30th. The Tigers will open up ACC play on the road at Notre Dame on September 30th.
