Sports Update For Tuesday, August 20th, 2019; Clemson Ranked Number One In Preseason AP Top 25 Poll
(Seneca, SC)—-For the first time in school history, the Clemson Tigers are the preseason #1 team in the country, according to the Associated Press.
The previous highest preseason ranking for the Tigers in the AP Poll was #2, which occurred in 2016 and 2018.
The remainder of the top 10 in the preseason AP Top 25 is Alabama at #2, followed by Georgia, Oklahoma, Ohio State, LSU, Michigan, Florida, Notre Dame and Texas.
Other notables in the preseason top 25 are Texas A & M at #12, Auburn at #16 and Syracuse at #22.
South Carolina has announced that quarterback Jake Bentley has been named to the preseason watch list for the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award.
The award is given to the nation’s outstanding senior or fourth-year quarterback in college football.
