Sports Update For Tuesday, July 23rd, 2019; Clemson Picked To Win Fifth Consecutive ACC Championship

(Seneca, SC)—–The Clemson Tigers have been picked as the overwhelming favorites to win their fifth consecutive ACC Championship.

Clemson received 170 of 173 votes from media members gathered last week at the ACC Football kickoff in Charlotte.

Syracuse picked up two votes and Virginia received one vote.

In the Atlantic Division, Clemson was picked by all but two media members to win the division, followed by Syracuse, Florida State, N.C. State, Boston College, Wake Forest and Louisville.

In the Coastal Division, Virginia was picked to finish first, followed by Miami, Virginia Tech, Pitt, Duke, North Carolina and Georgia Tech.

Clemson linebacker Isaiah Simmons and South Carolina linebacker T.J. Brunson have been named to the watch list for the 2019 Butkis Award, which is given to the nation’s best college linebacker.

A Butkis award is also presented to the nation’s top high school linebacker.  Among the players on that list are two current Clemson verbal commitments, Sergio Allen and Kevin Swint, both from the state of Georgia.
