Sports Update For Tuesday, May 14th, 2019; Clemson and South Carolina Play Final Midweek Regular Season Games Tonight

(Seneca, SC)——-Both the Clemson and South Carolina baseball teams will play their final regular season mid-week games tonight. 

The Tigers will be on the road in Conway to take on Coastal Carolina. First pitch is scheduled for 6pm. The Tigers are 30-22 on the season. 

Meanwhile, the Gamecocks will play their final regular season home game tonight as they will host USC Upstate with a 7pm first pitch. 

The South Carolina golf team is currently tied for sixth place after the first round of the Pullman, Washington regional in the NCAA men’s golf tournament after shooting a five under par 275. The Gamecocks are tied with Florida, UCLA and Purdue. The Gamecocks are six shots behind first place Texas A & M heading into today’s second round. 

The Clemson golf team is currently in fifth place after the first round of the Austin, TX regional in the NCAA men’s golf tournament after shooting an even par 284. Clemson is six shots behind first place Pepperdine and Texas heading into today’s second round. 

Clemson senior golfer Alice Hewson and freshman golfer Ivy Shepherd were named recently to the ACC All-Women’s Golf Team. Hewson becomes the first Clemson golfer to be named All-ACC four consecutive years and Shepherd is the first Clemson freshman golfer to be named All-ACC since Hewson’s freshman year. 

Clemson Track and Field throwers Grant Voeks and Janell Fullerton have been named 2019 National Strength and Conditioning Association Athletes of the Year. Voeks competes in the shot put and discus in both indoor and outdoor competition while Fullerton competes in the shot put in both indoor and outdoor competition.
