Sports Update For Tuesday, May 21st, 2019; Clemson And South Carolina To Begin Play In Their Respective Conference Baseball Tournaments

(Seneca, SC)———-The Clemson baseball team will open play this morning in the ACC Baseball Tournament in Durham, NC at 11am against Boston College. The Tigers are in Pool A along with BC and Atlantic Division Champion and overall #1 seed Louisville. The Tigers will face the Cardinals on Thursday in the pool play format Thursday at 11am. 

The South Carolina baseball team will begin play in the SEC Baseball Tournament today with a game against LSU in Hoover, AL. The game is set to begin sometime this evening after the conclusion of the Auburn-Tennessee game. 

Clemson senior infielder and outfielder Grayson Byrd has been named ACC Player of the Week. Byrd batted .389 with four home runs and 10 RBI’s. 

The Clemson rowing team finished in a tie for fourth with Notre Dame this past weekend in the 2019 ACC Rowing Championships which were held on Lake Hartwell. Virginia won the ACC Rowing Championship. 

The Clemson University Football program set a new program record for APR, recording a score of 992 for the 2017-18 academic year. It is the second consecutive year that Clemson has broken the program record in the metric. Seven Clemson Athletic program overall either matched or set new program records in the 2017-18 academic year. 

Clemson golfer Bryce Nimmer and South Carolina golfer Scott Stevens were recently named finalists for the 2019 Division One Jack Nicklaus Player of the Year Award. Nimmer and Stevens were among thirty finalists for the award. Nimmer has also been named a finalist for the Fred Haskins Award, which goes to the nation’s top collegiate golfer.
